How to build a Startup Metropole in 5 evenings

Did you know that there are several cool startups in Düsseldorf? And that we have great co-working spaces? And that the new mayor has the ambition to create a thriving startup system in Düsseldorf? But how are we going to connect these startups? How help them to grow successful businesses?
To answer these questions, StartupDorf e.V. has partnered with the U.S. Consulate General Düsseldorf and the EBC Hochschule, and started a study group. Based on the experience of the Northeast Ohio region in the US – shared in a Massive Open Online Course called Beyond Silicon Valley, and local expertise, we will learn what actions are needed, and what topics to focus on, to build a thriving startup ecosystem in Düsseldorf.
In 5 evening sessions, we will discuss the role of government, access to capital (two evenings), the role of intermediary organisations (Startupdorf, IHK, co-working spaces) and how to leverage anchor institutions (universities and schools).
